The Brickskeller serves the largest selection of bottled beer we"ve ever seen, specializing in a wide array of rare and distinct American lagers, ales and stouts. Visitors can sit at the long wooden bar or at one of the tables draped with red-and-white-checkered tablecloths. Dim lights, red brick walls, a stone floor and a black tiled ceiling add to that cellar-like atmosphere. A separate dining area is also available. Steel is a high-tech club that has an industrial interior to match its name. As you might imagine, the music is often industrial too. You’ll find an eclectic mix of patrons and go-go dancers dancing the night away under an impressive light and sound system.

The Edge

One of the biggest dance clubs in Washington, The Edge features four dance floors and five sound systems. This place is always jumping, with different themed rooms and different themed nights and different themed crowds. Call for theme information and theme hours. Open Nightly. Hours vary.

Tracks 2000

Though Tracks caters more toward the gay crowd, it does not discourage heterosexual patrons at all. This place is huge and downright groovy, with several distinct rooms for dancing, hanging out, volleyball playing, or any other endeavors you may be interested in. Tracks has several of the largest dance floors in Washington. The club is located in a less-than-friendly neighborhood, so take precautions. $5 parking in lot, or free on street. Cover Varies. Open Fri- 8pm-7am, Sun -Thu 9pm- 4am.

Zei

With a name like Zei, one has no choice but to imagine this place as a slick, high-tech dance club. And, to no surprise, it is one of the most popular dance clubs in D.C. After all, the club’s name is Zei. Actually, Zei is the Greek word meaning, “To live,” and we all know the Greeks got it going on. Well, so does Zei. Keep in mind, this is one of the classier clubs in town, so dress and act appropriately (whatever that means). Zei is open Thursdays from 10pm to 2:30am and Fridays & Saturdays from 10pm to 3:30am. $10 cover charge.

Dancing, darts and beer make up a complete night at the Black Rooster---lots of different, tasty beer, to be exact. The Black Rooster is a great place to hang out with a few buddies and just unwind. The staff is friendly, as is most of the clientele. This place is nothing flashy, which can be quite charming if you’re familiar with the nightlife scene in D.C.

Garret's Railroad Tavern

A popular spot with the Georgetown crowd, Garret"s is an extremely casual tavern popular among the college crowd, namely those who just want to sit around, chat and sip on beer. While Garrett’s is fairly small and rustic in the downstairs area, narrow stairs will lead you to a much more spacious second-floor terrace. Both areas serve standard pub fare—sandwiches, appetizers, burgers – as well as a variety of entrees. A jukebox plays all the college favorites, perhaps the only thing we didn’t like about this place. But we are weird. What we especially liked about Garrett’s is that it is open late (3am) on weekends. No cover charge. Open Mon –Thu: 11:30am-2am, Fri: 11:30am-3am, Sat: 12pm-3am, Sun: 12pm-2am.

The Dubliner Pub

Located inside the Phoenix Park Hotel, The Dubliner has two separate bars and two large dining areas, as well as an outdoor patio during the warmer months. The Guinness flows like the Nile in this place, and the food is as authentic as it can get in Washington. The menu pricing is somewhat expensive, a single meal with drinks can cost up to $50. After 9pm live Irish music fills the bar, a time when this place really gets fun. Beware the sing-alongs! Only a block down Massachusetts Avenue from Union Station, The Dubliner is also a great spot to kill downtime between transportation---enjoy some Irish pub fare and a thick Irish beer in the afternoon while you bury your nose in a copy of "Ulysses". Open Mon-Sat 11am- 2am, Sun 11am-12am.

Champions is for the sports and drinks lover, with jerseys, hats, bats, balls and other such memorabilia from professional sports teams adorning the walls. The Rock Sports Bar and Restaurant
