NIGHTLIFE

Bangkok has a reputation for wild and rowdy nightlife. In fact, 'sanook' or 'fun' would be a better description. The city's nightlife is relaxed, safe and very enjoyable. You don't need to dress up, and you won't break the bank. The city's nightlife goes way beyond the over-worn naughty image from the Vietnam days. And it really does go on around the clock.
For tourists, the main centers for evening entertainment are concentrated around Silom Road (Patpong, Thaniya, Silom Soi 2 and 4), Sukhumvit (Soi Nana, Soi Cowboy, Soi 33) and most recently Khao San Road. First-class hotels are often good centers for nightclubs and discotheques, which are generally quite cheap and of very good standard. Pubs and bars can be found all over the city, many specializing in live music and usually offering food as well.

Bangkok Nightlife

Bangkok is rapidly establishing itself as Asia's capital of cool, with excellent live music, good jazz clubs, ultra cool bars, hip dance venues and great restaurants - many within easy reach of the new BTS (Skytrain)

The old go go bars of Patpong and Soi Cowboy are now being upstaged by a much wider range of more sophisticated entertainment. Although new laws have now imposed 2:00am closing time, Bangkok still offers a vibrant nightlife which is better than ever.

In Bangkok you can find a party virtually everywhere, from the raucous antics of Soi Cowboy to the hip dance venues. Dance, trance, rock & roll - Bangkok has it all..

Jazz & Cool
While some venues have been established for many years, with some excellent musicians, jazz is enjoying a revival here in Bangkok.

Cultural Treats
Low key and cultural? Go and see a traditional dance performance accompanied by a great Thai food. Try the Patravadi theatre, which mixes traditional and contemporary theatre elements into something completely different, or take a dinner cruise on an old teak rice barge down the Chao Phraya in the moonlight...

Shopping After Dark
Probably the best time to go shopping in the cool of the evening. Most shopping malls stay open until 9 or 10pm, but it's worth browsing the night markets which stay open until 11pm or midnight.

A Bird-Eye-View of the River of King at Night A cruise along Chao Phraya River at night is one of the best scenic river cruise in the world. Many interesting sights along Chao Phraya have been lit up and given you and opportunity to open up fresh vistas impossible to experience in the day time. Several restaurants and hotels along the river provide several cruises to choose from. Pretty much all of them will be dinner cruises and most of them will run a trip from Krungthon Bridge at the north end to Rama IX Bridge and back.
